Strong Leadership Begins Here
By pathfinder on November 16, 2009
I admire Kara’s commitment to public service and to our community. Kara has never forgotten the people that elected her and she always treated the council and the community with respect. She is the best choice to be our next mayor because she will bring the council together to take real action on the issues important to Flagstaff.
-Councilmember Karla Brewster
I have had the opportunity to work with all three mayoral candidates. I am supporting Kara because she has the leadership and thoughtfulness Flagstaff needs right now.
-Vice Mayor Al White
Kara is a public servant, not a politician. As council member, she worked with the youth of Flagstaff tirelessly and gave us a voice in our government. For the first time in my life I felt I could make a difference – I will never forget that.
-Lon Huber, Former Flagstaff Youth Commissioner
I have worked with Kara around issues involving children and youth, and from watching her city council years. She studies all sides of a question and comes to reasonable judgments. Her experience, respect, intelligence, and maturity enhance her many community contributions.
-Florence Karlstrom
Dear Flagstaff Community,
I am running for Mayor because I am a leader who will work collaboratively with the City Council and our community to create a long term vision, set priorities, and work constructively to get things done. As a Flagstaff City Council member I fought to ensure that government was accountable to its citizens, and that all processes at City Hall were predictable, fair and transparent. As your Mayor, I will be ready to lead on the first day.

To the editor:
Local voters will narrow the mayoral race from three to two candidates on March 9th. Flagstaff, the State of Arizona and the nation are in the midst of a painful, yet necessary, financial transition — a transition that will alter the country’s political attitudes and economy for decades. The election is one of the most crucial in recent years. The current economic crisis requires leaders who are risk-takers, who understand how to address Flagstaff’s — the country’s — issues, plus who are unafraid of voicing their positions regardless of the potential consequences.
Kara Kelty has those attributes.
