To the editor:

Kudos to Joe Ferguson for generally fine reporting on local elections. Sorry, Joe, but you had it wrong on motives for locals who contribute to more than one candidate. You claim we are “hedging our bets” (Feb. 28). Can’t we simply thank worthy folks for running for office? I appreciate both Kelty and Presler for their readiness to serve as mayor. I support Kelty more, because Flagstaff needs her special combination of sound judgment, solid experience and readiness to hear all sides.
